The Poetic Description Of the Journey Thus Far (page 35)
In the beginning I was. But I did not know who I was. There was only myself in the wilderness. Then I recognize others like myself. It seemed easier to be I when I was with the others. So I and the others became we. The we was comfortable but confusing. The we needed an I, to be happy. Slowly we all found our place in the greater I. After a while the I that was me became immersed in the I that was we. It was a small price to pay for being comfortable and safe. The I that was we tamed the wilderness. It judged and controlled the we. The we believed in the I that was we. But the I that was me deep in the we was unsure. The immersed I that was me became restless. Who am I in the we? Am I separate from the we? Am I greater than that we? Will I be alone if I am separate from the we? How do I decide? How can I be certain that I am right? How can I know I am? Thus, the next step of the journey begins.
